This Privacy Policy explains how Mobildatatest – testa ditt mobilabonnemang/mobila bredband ("the Extension", "we", "us", or "our"), a Google Chrome browser extension provided by Mobilabonnemang.nu, collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Extension to test your mobile data connection. By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not install or use the Extension.

1. Who we are

2. What information we collect

When you run a connection test, the Extension collects the following information:

IP address	The public IP address used for the connection at the time of the test.	To verify that the test was actually carried out over the mobile operator's network rather than another connection (for example, Wi-Fi).

We do not intentionally collect your name, email address, browsing history, or the contents of the pages you visit, unless you voluntarily provide such information to us (for example, by contacting support).

3. How we collect this information

Method	Description
Automated collection during tests	When you run a connection test, the Extension automatically collects test results, operator information, location data, and your IP address at the moment the test is initiated.
Device and network information	The Extension reads operator and connection details from information made available by your device and network at the time of the test.
Server interaction	Your IP address is observed by our servers when your device communicates with them to run and verify the test.

The Extension only collects this data when you actively use the extension.

4. Why we use your information and our legal basis

We use the information we collect to:

• Run the connection test you requested and show you the results.
• Verify, using your IP address, that the test genuinely used your mobile operator's network.
• Analyze and aggregate results to assess mobile network performance and coverage by operator and location.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Extension and our services.
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

Legal basis (EU/EEA and UK users). Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Performance of a service you request (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to run the test you initiate and return your results.
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to verify the connection source, prevent invalid or fraudulent results, secure our service, and analyze network performance in aggregate. We balance these interests against your rights and freedoms.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — where required, for example for collecting precise location data. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

5. Location data

The Extension collects the location where a test is performed. Depending on how the Extension is configured and the permissions you grant, this may be approximate (derived from your IP address or coarse signals) or precise (derived from device location services).

• We request access to precise device location, and we only collect it after you grant permission. You can revoke this permission at any time through your browser or device settings.

6. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers / processors. With third parties that host our infrastructure or provide analytics, storage, or technical services on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect your data and use it only as instructed by us.
• Aggregated or de-identified data. We may publish or share statistics and insights about network performance and coverage that do not identify you individually.
• Legal reasons. Where required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or an enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or us.

7. Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:

• Individual test records and associated IP addresses are retained for 12 months, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
• Aggregated or de-identified data, which can no longer be linked to you, may be retained indefinitely.

8. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and limited internal access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International data transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in Sweden. If you are located in the EU/EEA or the UK and your data is transferred outside that area, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

• storage permission — to store your settings and recent results locally.

We use these permissions solely for the purposes described in this Policy and in accordance with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use or transfer your data for purposes unrelated to the Extension's single purpose of testing your mobile data connection.

12. Children's privacy

The Extension is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under [13 / 16, depending on jurisdiction]. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
